Homemade Napoleon Cake
Description
Perfect for tea and coffee. Here is a simple recipe for a layered cream Napoleon cake. Why simple? Because we'll be using ready-made puff pastry. The cream is custard. Let's get started. Serve cooled or slightly warm.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

1. In a small saucepan, mix the sugar and eggs. Do not beat, just mix.
- 2
Step 2

2. It is best to use a whisk. The mixture should become smooth and uniform.
- 3
Step 3

3. Add milk to the mixture.
- 4
Step 4

4. Gradually add the sifted flour. Continue beating.
- 5
Step 5

5. Place the saucepan with the mixture over medium-low heat. Stirring constantly, heat until thickened, about 15 minutes. The cream should have the consistency of pudding.
- 6
Step 6

6. Remove from heat and set aside. Take the puff pastry out of the freezer. Unroll it onto a floured surface. Add butter and vanilla sugar to the slightly cooled cream.
- 7
Step 7

7. Beat the cream with a mixer until smooth. The "Napoleon" cake cream is ready!
- 8
Step 8

8. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Place the dough onto a large sheet of parchment paper.
- 9
Step 9

9. Roll out the dough. It should increase in size by 1.5-2 times.
- 10
Step 10

10. Cut the rolled-out dough sheet into 4 equal rectangles.
- 11
Step 11

11. Prick the dough with a fork all over the surface to prevent it from rising.
- 12
Step 12

12. Place the dough in the hot oven to bake. The baking sheet should be lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12 minutes, until the surface turns golden brown. Puff pastry bakes very quickly, so be sure to keep an eye on it.
- 13
Step 13

13. Bake all the dough you have in this manner. Place the baked dough layers onto a plate. I recommend placing two layers side by side, spreading cream on them, then adding the next layers, and so on until the end.
- 14
Step 14

14. Sprinkle chopped nuts over the top layer, in addition to the cream.
- 15
Step 15

15. Napoleon cake is ready!
