Cake for a 4-year-old boy's birthday

The baking is simple and quick. Here's a suggestion for making a birthday cake for a 4-year-old boy. The dessert's code name is "Teddy Bear." The easiest way is to buy ready-made sponge cake layers from the store to save time, as shaping and decorating such a cake will take quite a while. It's hard to specify the exact amount of buttercream needed, but one thing is for sure: it's better to prepare plenty right away. Happy baking! Serve with tea or coffee.

Bake or buy any sponge cake layers (2 large and 2 smaller ones). Cut off the top from one of the large layers.

Place another large cake layer on top of the first one, spreading a layer of cream in between. Trim the edges of the second layer with a knife to shape it (as shown in the photo).

Insert several toothpicks into the second cake layer. Attach (skewer) the third layer onto them, and shape it using a knife.

All the trimmings + one small cake layer are crushed into crumbs and mixed with part of the buttercream. We get a sticky and thick mass.

Shape ears and two pairs of paws from the mixture. Assemble the bear together. Mix the remaining cream with black food coloring until it turns gray. Apply the cream evenly over the bear's body.

Using a regular toothpick, give the bear a "fluffy" texture. Make small decorative elements from colored fondant: nose, heels, patch, ears. Place the cake in the refrigerator overnight.
