Cake for my husband's birthday

Description

Homemade pastry for tea. I didn't think long about what cake to prepare for my husband's birthday. I decided not to break tradition and make our family's favorite "Napoleon," but I chose an unusual way to decorate it. The cake is made with a custard cream enriched with butter. In the end, I got a cake that was not only delicious, but also very beautiful and unique—perfect for my husband's birthday. Serve warm or chilled. Ideal with tea.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

    1. I thought for a long time about what cake to prepare for my husband's birthday. I decided to bake a classic "Napoleon," but decorated it in an unusual way.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

    2. Rub the flour with cold margarine. You can use butter instead, but then the crusts won't be as crumbly. Use a knife to rub the flour and margarine together (you can grate the margarine on a coarse grater; this makes it easier to rub and results in a more uniform dough).

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

    3. In icy water, dissolve the vodka and vinegar, as well as the egg. Mix everything until smooth.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

    4. Make a mound with the flour and margarine, creating a well in the center. Pour in the water mixture with the egg, vinegar, and vodka, then start kneading the dough. It should turn out elastic.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

    5. Divide the finished dough into 12 portions (first into 6, then each portion in half again). Place in the refrigerator.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

    6. Then take out each piece, roll it out, trim the edges (choose any shape you like), and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

    7. While the cake layers are baking, roll out one part and cut out hearts (or any other shapes). After the cake layers are baked, also bake the shaped cutouts.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

    8. Don't forget to prick the cake layers with a knife before baking.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

    9. These are the hearts you get in the finished form.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

    10. Now prepare the cream. For this cake, a custard cream made from milk, eggs, and butter is best.

  11. 11

    Step 11

    Step 11

    11. Place the milk on the stove and bring to a boil. Separately, beat the eggs with sugar, then gradually add this egg mixture to the boiling milk. When the custard begins to thicken, remove it from the heat.

  12. 12

    Step 12

    Step 12

    12. Separately, beat the butter with sugar (add half of the sugar to the boiling milk, and the other half to the butter). Then gradually add the cooled pastry cream to the butter mixture and beat at full speed.

  13. 13

    Step 13

    Step 13

    13. The cream should have a uniform consistency.

  14. 14

    Step 14

    Step 14

    14. Now generously spread each cake layer (don't forget the sides).

  15. 15

    Step 15

    Step 15

    15. Finally, press the cake (I use a tray for this) and refrigerate it for at least 5 hours.

  16. 16

    Step 16

    Step 16

    16. Decorate the sides of the birthday cake for my husband with hearts and serve it at the table.

    17. This is how beautiful it looks when sliced.
