Cake
Description
Delicious baked treat for the whole family. I remember the "Monastyrskaya Izba" cake from my childhood. In our town, there was a woman who baked cakes masterfully, and "Monastyrskaya Izba" was her signature creation. Everyone ordered her cakes for all celebrations. For my birthday, I always asked for nothing but the "Monastyrskaya Izba" cake. And now, after several years, I've finally found the exact recipe she used. I'm sharing it with you! In return, please share your impressions. Serve with tea or coffee.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Rub the margarine (or butter) with sugar and vanilla. Add sour cream (200 grams) and mix.
- 2
Step 2

Mix the flour with the baking powder and add it to the sour cream mixture. Knead the dough. Tip: You can start with 3 cups of flour; if the dough turns out too runny, add another cup.
- 3
Step 3

Mix the berries with starch and sugar (a little sugar, 2-3 tablespoons). Take the dough and form several strips, roll them out into strips about 8 cm long. Place the berries on them and wrap the berries in the strips.

Step 4

Place the ready "logs" for our log house onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 5
Step 5

Tip: it's better to place the "logs" seam-side down. Bake them for 15 minutes in a preheated 200-degree oven. While they're baking, prepare the cream. Whip 200 grams of sugar together with 600 grams of sour cream using a mixer or blender.

Step 6

Place the finished "logs" on top of each other in layers, generously spreading each layer with sour cream cream.

Step 7

Sprinkle the top of the "Monastery Hut" cake with grated chocolate and chopped walnuts, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours. That's it.
