Cake
Description
The recipe won't take much time. Making the "Horse" cake at home isn't as difficult as it might seem at first glance. With the help of detailed instructions, you'll be able to decorate it with fondant just as well as professional pastry chefs. It might not turn out perfectly the first time, but with practice comes skill.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

1. Bake the cake layers according to your favorite recipe. The recipe for making the "Horse" cake can be any one you prefer.
- 2
Step 2

2. Trim the cake layers into squares and rectangles, then arrange them in the shape of a horse.
- 3
Step 3

3. Spread the cake layers with any cream (in this version, yogurt cream with strawberries).
- 4
Step 4

4. When the body shaping is complete, the entire piece needs to be fully coated with the modeling paste (in this version, the simplest option is used—crumbled cake scraps mixed with hot milk).
- 5
Step 5

5. The main focus should be on shaping the dough into round forms. After the process is complete, the cake should be placed in the refrigerator to cool thoroughly.
- 6
Step 6

6. While the cake is cooling, you can work on the horse's head. It can be made from light sponge cake without cream (at most soaked with syrup), but to ensure the head is definitely lightweight and doesn't fall, it can be made from polystyrene. Additionally, cut out small ears.
- 7
Step 7

7. Shape the head. Attach the ears to skewers.
- 8
Step 8

8. To the already set cake, you can add the neck. In this version, butter mixed with crushed cake crumbs is used.
- 9
Step 9

9. Place the head on skewers.
- 10
Step 10

10. Attach the head to the body and cover everything with modeling paste.
- 11
Step 11

11. Put the cake back in the refrigerator once again to let it set. Then, carefully cover the surface of the horse with buttercream to smooth out all the irregularities.
- 12
Step 12

12. Now comes the most meticulous and interesting part—decorating with fondant. The horse should be completely covered with thinly rolled fondant.
- 13
Step 13

13. Immediately during the process, make indentations for the eyes and nose. Roll out a strip of white marzipan.
- 14
Step 14

14. You will also need a strip of blue fondant.
- 15
Step 15

15. Make small cuts and indentations - this will be the tail.
- 16
Step 16

15. Roll out small strips; you will need quite a few of them.
- 17
Step 17

16. Carefully attach the strands, imitating tendrils.
- 18
Step 18

17. Remember the white strip of marzipan? It needs to be placed on the face. Right there, arrange another row of thin strips.
- 19
Step 19

18. Carefully attach the tail and decorate the hooves with fondant.
- 20
Step 20

19. Don't forget to place the ears wrapped in marzipan. If desired, you can add a few bright touches—some flowers, for example. Make eyes from white and black marzipan. This is how a homemade "Horse" cake can turn out.
