Step 1

1. Mix the flour and baking powder, then add milk and vanilla. This is the base for the cake layers. Separately, beat the butter with sugar until smooth, and in another bowl, beat 6 egg whites until stiff peaks form. Combine everything together, add vanilla, and bake the layers for about 25 minutes at 180°C.

Step 2

2. Melt the remaining sugar with a small amount of water (a little more than half a cup) and the remaining vanilla over low heat, as if making caramel. Beat the remaining egg whites until stiff peaks form. Then carefully combine the mixtures. Soak the raisins in rum, and finely chop all the other filling ingredients. Add them to about 2/3 of the cream.

Step 3

3. The cream, now with dried fruits, is evenly distributed over the cake layers, which are stacked on top of each other. You can cut the layers further to create a proper multi-layered cake.

Step 4

4. Then, spread the remaining white cream over the top and sides of the cake. Chill the cake in the refrigerator for about 4 hours to allow the meringue mixture to set.

Step 5

5. I decided not to separate the cake layers, but to make one thick layer of cream. Done!
