Cake
Description
Homemade baked goods for tea. A beautiful sponge cake with fruits is not difficult to make at all. If you've never worked with fondant before—don't worry, it doesn't require advanced culinary skills either. Just follow the recipe and feel free to get creative with shapes. Serve with tea or coffee.

Step 1

1. Of course, we start making the cake by baking biscuit layers. We prepare two types of dough—light and dark. Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa to the dark dough. Bake the biscuit layers for about 50 minutes according to the classic recipe in a rectangular shape.

Step 2

2. While the cake layers are baking, make a template—draw the shape of our boat (top view) according to the desired form. Since the shape is usually preconceived, just imagine your dream boat and cut it out from the cake layers using the template.

Step 3

3. Now let the cake layers cool. I usually end up with dark and light layers.

Step 4

4. While the cake layers are cooling, prepare the topping (from the scraps). Grind the remaining cake pieces and set aside to wait for their turn.

Step 5

5. Prepare sour cream cream (you can also make a cottage cheese cream) and use it to spread between the cake layers. Place fresh fruits (cherry works best) in the center.

Step 6

6. Now it's time to shape our cake. Everything is assembled using cake layers and frosting. Use the crumbs mixed with the remaining cream to smooth out the shape, securing everything with toothpicks. Now there's just one small thing left—making the fondant. I usually use marshmallow with food coloring for this. Once everything is ready, place the cake in the refrigerator overnight.
