Cake
Description
This is a fairly simple Yin-Yang cake recipe that can be made even without a special occasion. There are plenty of ways to decorate it. One of the easiest options is to sprinkle the top with grated chocolate and coconut flakes. Serve cooled or slightly warm.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

1. First, separate the egg whites from the yolks. It's best if the eggs are at room temperature. Add a pinch of salt and about 200 grams of sugar to the egg whites. Start beating thoroughly.
- 2
Step 2

2. Beat the egg whites until they form soft peaks, but make sure the sugar has completely dissolved and the mixture has thickened.
- 3
Step 3

3. Add the remaining sugar to the egg yolks and beat until smooth. If desired, you can also add vanilla extract or vanilla sugar, as well as a pinch of cinnamon, for example.
- 4
Step 4

4. Combine the yolks with the egg whites and beat well together. Since the egg whites are not beaten to stiff peaks, continue beating with a mixer.
- 5
Step 5

5. Gradually add the flour, continuing to whisk. The batter should be smooth and lump-free. Divide the prepared batter into 3 equal parts and bake 3 layers in a preheated oven.
- 6
Step 6

6. Bake these cake layers at a temperature of no more than 150 degrees. Baking time is about 40 minutes. Let each layer cool thoroughly.
- 7
Step 7

7. How to make the "Yin-Yang" cake incredibly soft? Soak the bottom layer with syrup made from a little honey and water. You can do this in 2-3 stages.
- 8
Step 8

8. Cover the well-soaked layer with the second one and generously spread yogurt over it. You can use not just plain yogurt, but also mix in fresh berries or fruits.
- 9
Step 9

9. Generously spread the third layer with sour cream frosting.
- 10
Step 10

10. Only one thing remains — decorating the top. If using grated chocolate, a stencil will come in handy to create the design. After the chocolate has been sprinkled, the stencil can be carefully removed with tweezers.
- 11
Step 11

11. Another decorating option is using frosting. With its help, you can also create a beautiful design. In this version, leave the top layer without frosting and use a pastry bag to pipe the design.

Step 12

12. Perhaps the most time-consuming, yet incredibly beautiful option is a homemade "Yin-Yang" fondant cake. Roll out the fondant thinly and cover the entire cake. Smooth it out and trim off the excess. Color part of the fondant black and cut it out using a stencil. Attach it using water. If desired, you can also decorate the sides with a two-colored braid made from leftover fondant, for example.
