Cake
Description
Perfectly pairs with tea and coffee. The recipe for the "iPad" cake is more of a general idea and tips for its implementation. You can use not only sponge cake layers, but also honey or any other preferred type. Any cream to your taste will work as well. 1. First, bake the cake layer. It's best to use a rectangular baking tray. Let the baked layer cool completely, then cut it in half (if the layer isn't even, trim it with a sharp knife and set aside the trimmings). 2. In this version, the cream is buttercream, but you can use any cream you like. Generously spread the cream on the layers and stack them on top of each other. If desired, you can bake two separate layers to make the cake taller. 3. Combine the leftover cake trimmings with some cream and blend until smooth. Use this mixture to cover the entire cake, then refrigerate for a couple of hours. 4. While the cake chills, prepare the fondant. You'll need a thin rectangular base slightly larger than the cake. Separately, roll out a blue-colored rectangle for the screen. All other details depend on your imagination and skills. 5. Once the cake has set, cover it with white fondant (you can make a black "iPad" cake at home if desired). Smooth the surface to avoid wrinkles and trim off excess fondant. 6. Place the blue screen in the center. To hide seams, roll out thin ropes of contrasting color (black) and place them around the screen. 7. Gently press in the bottom button and use a bit of water to attach a small black dot at the top—this will be the speaker. 8. Color the remaining fondant with food dyes and shape small icons to place on the screen. 9. Optionally, use a food-safe marker to write a congratulatory message. The dessert is ready. Serve it at the table.
