Step 1

1. Bring the water to a boil, slowly pouring in the grain in a very thin stream. Cook over low heat for about 20 minutes, stirring. Add salt and spices. Then spread onto a baking sheet or into a suitable mold, smoothing it out. Let it cool.

2. Using cutters or a glass, cut out circles. Place them on a pan with well-heated vegetable oil. Fry on high heat for just a few minutes on each side.

3. Place 2/3 of the sauce on the bottom of a heatproof dish. On top, add the polenta slices.

4. Spread the remaining sauce on top and place the dish in the preheated oven.

5. Bake for about 20 minutes at 200 degrees.

6. Before serving, garnish with pesto sauce.
