Beef veal baked in the oven
Description
Nowadays, salads or sandwiches won't impress anyone—modern guests expect sophisticated and unusual dishes. Fortunately, finding a suitable recipe is no longer a problem, and I'd like to offer you a great option and tell you how to prepare veal roasted in the oven. Although this dish is very easy and quick to make, it turns out incredibly delicious and refined. It's served with shallots as a side, which is also quite unusual. So this simple recipe for oven-roasted veal is perfect for a get-together with old friends or a festive family dinner.
Instructions

Step 1

First, we need to boil the onion, so we put water on the stove and bring it to a boil. When the water boils, we place whole unpeeled onions into the pot. We cook the onions for 4-5 minutes, then remove them from the water and wait until they cool down. After that, we peel off the outer layer of skin.

Step 2

Next, we remove the membranes and tendons from the veal, rinse the meat under running water, and dry it with paper towels.

Step 3

Now rub the meat with spices and salt on all sides. Be careful with the salt, since our shallot will be sweet, and overly salty meat might not pair well with it.

Step 4

Pour a small amount of vegetable oil into a frying pan and fry the veal until it develops a golden crust on all sides.

Step 5

Transfer the seared meat to a baking dish, arrange shallots around it, and pour a little water into the dish. Sprinkle the shallots with dark brown sugar, then place mustard seeds and thyme sprigs on top of the veal. Put the dish in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) and roast the meat for 40–50 minutes. About 20 minutes after placing the dish in the oven, carefully turn the shallots over to prevent burning. When the meat is done, let it rest in the turned-off oven for 10–15 minutes, then remove the veal and serve.
