Meatballs with mozzarella in tomato sauce
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Meatballs usually have a special taste and aroma associated specifically with home warmth and coziness. For some reason, this dish reminds me most of my grandmother. Probably, no one could cook meatballs the way she did. After all, recipes passed down from generation to generation have a certain power. The finished dish can be served at the table.
Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the ingredients for the meatballs. You will need meat or chicken mince. If you have high-quality meat, you can add more rice. If using poultry mince, don't overdo the rice, otherwise the flavor will be lost. And of course, I recommend making the mince yourself. I use an electric meat grinder for this purpose.

Step 2

Boil the rice. You can use parboiled rice and soak it for a couple of hours, but I don't have the patience for that. It's better to cook it until half-done. This will take very little time, and the result will be the same.

Step 3

Place the minced meat with half-cooked rice into a single bowl. Finely chop the onion. Crack the eggs into a bowl. Add salt, pepper, and dried herbs to taste. Add 50 grams of flour for consistency and knead until it resembles dough.

Step 4

Chop the tomatoes into small pieces. Pour sunflower oil into a frying pan and fry them, covered with a lid. You can add tomato paste and chopped garlic.

Step 5

Roll the meatballs from the minced meat and rice, wetting your hands with water before each piece. Transfer the tomato mixture to a deep frying pan. Add a glass of water. Place the meatballs into the resulting tomato juice, then put everything in the oven for 20 minutes.

Step 6

After 20 minutes, take out the meatballs and flip them. Slice the mozzarella into thin pieces and place them on top of the meatballs. Put everything back into the oven and bake for another 10 minutes.

Step 7

All in all, it took us about half an hour to bake our meatballs in tomato sauce. We chop fresh herbs, take out the meatballs, and garnish them with our favorite herbs.
