Meatballs with onion and carrot
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Usually, onions and carrots are added to the sauce, but I suggest mixing them with the minced meat. This is a great way to feed picky little eaters who don't like vegetables, and it also makes the meatballs juicier. The taste of the final dish will depend on the type of minced meat you use—you can choose any kind according to your preference. As a side dish, you can serve various grains, vegetables, or simple pasta. It's easy to prepare and turns out incredibly delicious—give it a try. Serve the finished dish warm.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients from the list. It is preferable to use round-grain rice. My minced meat is homemade, made from pork.
- 2
Step 2

Rinse the rice and cook in salted water until almost done. I cook it for 10 minutes, then let it stand covered for 5 minutes.
- 3
Step 3

Place the minced meat into a deep bowl.
- 4
Step 4

Grate the onion on a coarse grater. Grate the carrot on a fine grater, using a not too large carrot.
- 5
Step 5

Add boiled rice, egg, salt, and spices to taste to the vegetable mince.
- 6
Step 6

Mix thoroughly until uniform.
- 7
Step 7

With wet hands, shape the meatballs and place them on a preheated pan with oil.
- 8
Step 8

Sear over high heat on both sides until golden brown.
- 9
Step 9

Separately mix tomato paste, sour cream, and flour. Stir and gradually add cold water in portions. Mix until all lumps disappear, then add salt to taste. For a more balanced flavor, add a couple of pinches of sugar. Pour the prepared sauce over the fried meatballs.

Step 10

Cover with a lid and, after boiling, reduce the heat to the minimum. Simmer at the lowest boil for 20 minutes.

Step 11

The meatballs with onion and carrots are ready. Serve with any side dish.
