Tartlets with Caviar and Cream Cheese
Description
A tasty appetizer for any gathering. Tartlets are unique in that you can change the filling every time and still get a new dish each time. Today I’m offering this simple version: tartlets with roe and cream cheese. Serve the appetizer at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

To prepare this appetizer, you will need cream cheese and tartlet shells. Caviar will be the complement and the highlight of the flavor. You can use capelin or pollock roe.
- 2
Step 2

Prepare the tartlet shells. Tartlet shells come in several types. It all depends on the type of dough they are made from. Mine are waffle-type. There are also shortcrust ones.

Step 3

Fill the tartlets with cream cheese. If you don’t have cream cheese, you can use sour cream, first spreading it on cheesecloth. The sour cream will release whey and become similar to cream cheese. You can also make cream cheese yourself.

Step 4

Top the cream cheese with salted capelin roe.
- 5
Step 5

Garnish each tartlet with a parsley leaf.

Step 6

You can serve this appetizer at the table. Delicious, crispy tartlets are ready. They are tasty on their own and as an accompaniment to other dishes. A great option for an office banquet or a picnic.
