Tamago yaki

20 min4 serv.20 февр. 2026 г.

Description

The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Japanese omelette will appeal to both children and adults. You can make "Tamago yaki" with a variety of fillings: ham, cheese, tomatoes, minced meat, etc. Everything depends on your imagination and, of course, taste preferences. Tamago is easy to make at home and can be cooked using a regular pancake pan. You can adjust the amount of sugar to your taste, but I wouldn't recommend omitting it completely—it's the unique touch that makes this simple and budget-friendly dish so special. The finished dish is ready to be served.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

    Prepare all the necessary ingredients.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Beat the eggs with a whisk, without overdoing it—we just need to break down the egg structure and combine everything.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Now an important point! The beaten eggs need to be strained through a sieve to remove any lumps.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Add soy sauce, vinegar, and sugar to the strained eggs. Mix well.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

If you have a square frying pan — great! If not, take a regular crepe pan, heat it up and grease with oil. Pour a small ladleful of the egg mixture into the pan and spread it out in a circle.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Once the omelet mixture sets, roll it up directly in the pan into a log. The Japanese do this with chopsticks, but I used a regular spatula to help.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Leave the rolled omelet near the edge of the pan and brush the pan with oil again. Pour in a ladle of the egg mixture and once more spread it in a circular motion, making sure the mixture goes underneath the rolled omelet.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

When the omelet has set, carefully fold it in the opposite direction, i.e., roll it over the previously cooked roll.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

Repeat the procedure until the omelet mixture is used up. I usually get 6-8 pancakes.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

The tamagoyaki omelette is ready. Slice it with a sharp knife and serve. It's delicious!
