
Pork with apples, onions, and wild rice
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Juicy pork with the sweet and sour taste of apples and an unusual side dish will diversify your dinner. The finished dish can be served at the table.

1. Cut the apples in half, remove the cores, and slice them. Slice the onion. You can sauté it beforehand, or add it raw to the pork.

2. Heat olive oil in a large pot over high heat. Season the pork with salt and pepper on all sides. Sear in the pot until browned. Reduce heat to low.

3. Add apple juice, apple pieces, chopped onion, and bay leaf. Cover with a lid and cook over low heat for 3 hours. If desired, instead you can bake the pork in the oven at 150 degrees.

4. At the end of the pork cooking time, prepare the side dish. Melt butter in a medium saucepan. Add chopped pecans and sauté for a couple of minutes.

5. Add wild rice and chicken broth, bring to a boil.

6. Reduce the heat to low, cover with a lid, and cook until all the liquid is absorbed by the rice.

7. When the pork stew is ready, transfer the pork, apples, and onions to a serving dish. Increase the heat to high, bring the liquid to a boil, and cook until it thickens, about 5–7 minutes. Pour the sauce over the pork and slice the meat.

8. Serve with apples, onions, and wild rice. If desired, you can sprinkle the pork with fresh thyme or rosemary.
