Poltava-style pork
Description
For every holiday, I try to prepare something new, because it's not interesting to serve guests the same dishes all the time. That's why I've collected many different festive recipes, and today I'll tell you how to make Poltava-style pork. This is a very interesting and incredibly delicious dish that I'm sure many will enjoy, as it combines wonderful ingredients such as meat, mushrooms, cheese, onion, and even a pickled cucumber, all covered in a delicate sauce. Just imagine how aromatic, juicy, and hearty this pork will turn out—how could anyone possibly resist such a culinary masterpiece? Plus, this recipe for Poltava-style pork can also be used for an ordinary dinner, as it's very easy to prepare and doesn't take much time. Well then, why don't we get started right away? It's always so pleasant to delight your loved ones with tasty and satisfying food. 1) Peel the onion and slice it into half-rings. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan and sauté the onion until golden brown. 2) You can use any mushrooms, but button mushrooms are best—they're quite economical and cook quickly. Rinse the mushrooms under cold water, cut them into small pieces, add them to the pan with the onion, and fry together until the excess moisture evaporates from the mushrooms. 3) Now peel the carrot and cut it into strips. By the way, instead of carrot, you can also use pumpkin, as it pairs very well with meat. Add the carrot to the other ingredients and sauté until soft. 4) Cut the pickled cucumbers into strips, add them to the pan, season with spices, and fry for just one minute. 5) Crack the egg into a bowl, add sour cream, and mix thoroughly. Then add cheese grated on a coarse grater and mix again. 6) Cut the pork into portion-sized pieces and lightly pound them. Season with salt and black pepper. Grease a baking tray with a little vegetable oil and place the meat on it. 7) Place the sautéed vegetables and mushrooms on each piece of pork, then add tomato sauce, and on top of that, the mixture of egg, sour cream, and cheese. Place the tray in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) and bake for 40–45 minutes. When the meat is covered with a golden crust, remove it from the oven and transfer to a serving dish. Garnish the Poltava-style pork with fresh herbs and vegetables, and serve.
