Description

You'll find this classic Greek-style pork recipe in any restaurant in Greece, but since vacation season is over, I suggest preparing this delicious dish yourself. Trust me, it's quite simple to make, and you can easily find all the ingredients at any grocery store (by the way, Greek yogurt can be replaced with a 1:1 mixture of sour cream and regular yogurt). So why not replace your usual dinner with a fantastic international dish? You don't need to go to a restaurant to try something new and exciting—just make Greek-style pork at home. The meat turns out so tender and soft that it practically melts in your mouth, while the sauce adds a refreshing touch to its spicy flavor. Overall, it's unusual and incredibly delicious. Believe me, your family will be pleasantly surprised by this delightful Greek-style dinner surprise.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Rinse the pork under cold water and dry it with paper towels, then cut it into strips.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Grind the spices in a mortar, add the minced garlic and olive oil, and mix well. Add the marinade to the sliced meat, mix thoroughly, and refrigerate the meat for several hours.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

When the pork has marinated well, begin frying it in small portions in a skillet, because if you fry all the meat at once, it will release a lot of juice and end up stewing rather than frying. When the meat develops a golden-brown crust, add the onion sliced into half-rings.

    Step 4

    Step 4

Fry everything together until the onion turns golden. Meanwhile, we can prepare the sauce for the meat: grate the cucumber on a coarse grater and squeeze out the juice. Transfer the cucumber to a bowl, add yogurt, minced garlic, season with salt and pepper, and mix well.

    Step 5

Serve the cooked meat with sauce, accompanied by rice or a vegetable salad as a side dish.
