Sushi with salmon

Description

The recipe won't take much time. I think there's no need to explain what sushi is anymore—in Russia, practically everyone knows about this traditional Japanese invention. Many people believe that making sushi is a very labor-intensive process, and that's why they go to sushi bars to enjoy their favorite Japanese dish. Nonsense—in fact, making salmon sushi at home is very simple! Take a look at the recipe—just a bit of dexterity and no tricks. Minimum effort—and beautiful little sushi, as I affectionately call them, on your table :P

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Here are all our ingredients. Raw salmon, cooked rice, and wasabi. And a little cold water.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

First, you need to cut the required piece of fish fillet. The classic piece should be about 1.5–2 cm long and 0.5 cm thick; however, if you deviate from the standard dimensions, it's nothing to worry about—the flavor won't suffer much.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

This is roughly what a piece of fish should look like. The more beautifully you slice it, the more beautiful the sushi will naturally turn out.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Now let's lightly spread a little wasabi on the piece of fish. Don't overdo it—wasabi is very hot!

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Now let's shape the rice. Dip your fingers in cold water so the rice doesn't stick to them.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Take the amount of rice you need with your hands. It's hard to say exactly how much rice you need—try it once or twice and you'll start to get a feel for the right amount.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Shape the rice with your hands, giving it the proper form.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Place a piece of fish on the rice.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

Lightly press the rice against the fish with your hand so they stick together. With your thumb, make a small indentation in the rice (see photo)—this is done so the sushi looks lighter and more attractive.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

Now we’re making it look nice—press the rice along the sides and wrap it with the fish. In short, we’re finishing the sushi properly.

  11. 11

    Step 11

    Step 11

All that's left is to congratulate you — salmon sushi is ready! Serve with pickled ginger, soy sauce, and wasabi.
