Original goulash soup
Description
The recipe won't take much time. The originality of this soup lies in the addition of beer and coffee. It might seem strange—why add these? But the taste truly changes for the better. The result is very tasty and filling, a thick, rich soup that, after standing for a while, stops resembling soup altogether and becomes more like goulash. Serve hot.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Peel and rinse the vegetables. If you want to make the dish spicier, add 1 hot pepper as well.
- 2
Step 2

Cut the beef into small pieces.
- 3
Step 3

Sear the beef in a small amount of oil in a frying pan until a crust forms on all sides. Then transfer the meat to a plate.
- 4
Step 4

Clean the sweet pepper and cut it into small pieces, but not too finely— the pieces should be noticeable in the soup. Cut the onion into large cubes.
- 5
Step 5

Carrots can be grated on a coarse grater, but it's better to cut them into small cubes. Also, chop the garlic into pieces.
- 6
Step 6

In the same skillet where you fried the meat, sauté the vegetables for 5-7 minutes. If there is no oil left, add a little more.
- 7
Step 7

When the vegetables become slightly soft, add the sugar and tomato paste. Sauté for a few minutes, then remove from heat.
- 8
Step 8

Transfer the meat and fried vegetables to a heavy-bottomed pot or a heatproof dish. Add salt, pepper, and oregano.
- 9
Step 9

Pour in the coffee and beer. Add a little more water to achieve a soup-like consistency. Simmer the soup over low heat for 1-1.5 hours, covered, until both the meat and all the vegetables become tender.
- 10
Step 10

10 minutes before cooking is complete, add the canned beans to the pot, mix well, and keep on the heat so they warm through and combine with all the other ingredients.
- 11
Step 11

The soup is ready. It turned out very thick, rich, and extremely delicious!
- 12
Step 12

Done.
