Instructions
- 1
Step 1

In the photo are the ingredients we will use to make the little chests.
- 2
Step 2

Peel the potatoes, finely chop the onion, and slice the ham thin.
- 3
Step 3

Cut off the top part of each potato — this will be the lid of our little chest. See the photo for reference.
- 4
Step 4

Using a vegetable peeler, scrape out the core of the potato.
- 5
Step 5

In the end, we should end up with the following: a hollow potato serving as a little box and the top part of the potato serving as a lid.
- 6
Step 6

Now we prepare the filling. To do this, sauté the onion in olive oil until golden, then add the ham and sauté for a couple more minutes.
- 7
Step 7

Next, let's make the sauce: mix finely chopped herbs, crushed garlic, salt, pepper, and sour cream. Mix well and set aside.
- 8
Step 8

In a frying pan, melt the butter, add the potatoes, and fry until a crust forms.
- 9
Step 9

Now fill our little chests with the filling (onion and ham), and pour the sour cream sauce on top.
- 10
Step 10

Cover the potatoes with their lids—and you get perfect little treasure chests. Now wrap the treasure chests in foil and place them in the oven. Bake for about 20 minutes at 190°C.
- 11
Step 11

So now the potato boxes are ready. All that remains is to let them cool slightly, arrange them on plates, and serve with the remaining sour cream sauce. They can also be served later, chilled.
