Meatball Sub
Description
The appetizer is quick and easy to prepare. For the submarine sandwich, choose long rolls; croissants work great. They are soft inside and, after baking, do not lose their softness while also developing a crisp crust. Follow my step-by-step instructions, where everything is shown and explained. Serve with herbs and sauce.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients. This amount yields 3–4 servings, depending on how large you make the meatballs.
- 2
Step 2

Mix the chicken mince with egg, breadcrumbs, a clove of garlic, salt, and ground pepper. Add herbs. To make the meatballs juicier, you can add a piece of soft butter.
- 3
Step 3

Add one tablespoon of tomato sauce to the prepared ground meat. Mix.
- 4
Step 4

With wet hands, shape the meatballs; the size is up to you—I made mine slightly larger than a walnut. Place them on parchment or in a greased baking dish. Bake at 200 degrees for about 20 minutes.
- 5
Step 5

The meatballs are ready!
- 6
Step 6

Cut each bun in half lengthwise without cutting all the way through to the edge so it opens like a book. Place in the oven for a couple of minutes to brown lightly. Place 3 pieces of cheese on each bun.
- 7
Step 7

Place the meatballs on the cheese.
- 8
Step 8

Top with cheese again. Place in a hot oven for a couple of minutes until the cheese melts.
- 9
Step 9

Pour tomato sauce over the meatballs and serve the appetizer hot to the table!
