Asparagus with shrimp
Description
I'm sure it never occurred to you to serve asparagus with shrimp as the star delicacy at your holiday table or romantic dinner—but you'd be wrong to overlook it. In fact, both shrimp and asparagus are affordable, especially during asparagus season when it's a top seller, so sourcing ingredients won't be a problem. And if you prepare asparagus with shrimp at home in a creamy, delicate sauce, no one will ever guess just how quick and easy the dish was to make. Ready to begin? 1. If needed, take the shrimp out to thaw, and in the meantime place a pot of salted water on the stove. 2. Wash and peel the asparagus spears, trimming off the toughest part of the stems with a knife. Once the water boils, add the asparagus and cook for no more than 5 minutes. 3. Meanwhile, peel the shrimp, removing shells and heads, and place them in a separate dish. Important: do not discard the liquid left over from thawing the shrimp—we'll need it later. 4. Take a sauté pan and heat olive oil in it, along with half a chili pepper and finely chopped garlic. 5. Once the oil is hot, add butter, cream, and the reserved shrimp thawing liquid. Mix well and wait until the butter has completely melted. Season with salt and add any spices to taste. 6. Now remove the chili pepper, then add the shrimp to the simmering mixture and cook for a couple of minutes. That's it! Arrange the asparagus on plates and pour the hot creamy sauce with shrimp over the top. The flavor is extraordinary—I promise you and your guests will be absolutely blown away by this classic asparagus with shrimp recipe.
