Spaghetti with bacon, green beans, and basil
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the spaghetti until done. Set aside 1 cup of the cooking liquid, then drain the water and return the spaghetti to the pot. Meanwhile, fry the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until browned and crispy, about 10 to 12 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the bacon to paper towels to drain excess fat. Pour out all the bacon fat from the skillet, leaving only 1 tablespoon. Add the green beans to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, cover with a lid, and sauté until the beans are tender, about 5 to 7 minutes. Transfer the beans to the pot with the spaghetti. Add the bacon, 1 cup of Parmesan cheese, and enough of the reserved cooking liquid to moisten. Garnish with basil and sprinkle with the remaining cheese. Serve immediately. The finished dish is ready to be served.
