Crumb sauce
Description
Homemade sauce recipe. The easiest way to make a thick sauce is using breadcrumbs. You can serve it with any dish—savory or sweet—just choose the version you'd like to prepare. The sauce should be served hot, not cold, as it contains butter. It pairs perfectly with pasta, meat, and vegetables.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. You can use wheat or corn breadcrumbs. If you use corn breadcrumbs, the sauce will have a brighter color.
- 2
Step 2

Melt the butter in a skillet and simmer for about 6–10 minutes to evaporate excess moisture. Add the breadcrumbs and fry them in the butter for 2–3 minutes until lightly browned.

Step 3

Squeeze the juice from the lemon and pour it into a container. You can use concentrated lemon juice, diluted with water in the required amount.
- 4
Step 4

Add salt and ground black pepper if you are preparing the savory version. And sugar or honey if you are preparing the sweet version of the sauce. Gently mix everything.
- 5
Step 5

Simmer on the stove for 2-3 minutes, until the breadcrumbs absorb the butter. Then pour in hot water and bring the sauce to a boil. Turn off the heat—the sauce is completely ready!

Step 6

Transfer it to a sauce boat or a ramekin, bowl, and serve hot. The sauce should be served only while hot, so the oil doesn't solidify. Drizzle over side dishes made of cauliflower, pumpkin, bell peppers, etc. Enjoy your meal!
