To prepare the sauce, gather all the necessary ingredients. You can use broth made from any type of meat. The broth can be substituted with water, but then the finished sauce will be less aromatic and rich.

Peel the onion and rinse it in cold water. Then finely chop the onion.

In a hot skillet, melt the butter.

Place the sliced onions in a frying pan. Simmer the onions over low heat until they turn a light golden color. They will become soft.

Then pour the wine into the onions and simmer until the volume is reduced by half. Stir occasionally.
