Basil sauce for winter storage
Description
Homemade sauce recipe. Bright and spicy basil sauce is perfect for boiled pasta, pasta dishes, and mashed potatoes. Serve it with fresh unsweetened baked goods, lavash, toasted bread, or as a dressing for vegetable salad. Ideal with pasta, meat, and vegetables.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. Choose green basil, not red.
- 2
Step 2

Dry the walnut kernels in advance in a pan or oven and let them cool. Do not prepare the sauce with warm nuts! Put them into a blender container or a grinder bowl. Rinse the bunch of basil and pluck the leaves into the container with the nuts. Add salt and ground black pepper.

Step 3

Peel the garlic cloves, rinse them in water, and add to the container. If you have green garlic available, use it or garlic scapes instead.
- 4
Step 4

Pour in odorless vegetable oil, preferably cold-pressed olive oil. Add apple cider vinegar and puree everything for 3–5 minutes.

Step 5

Place the prepared spicy sauce into small jars or containers, seal tightly, and store in the freezer, cellar, or basement. This sauce must be kept cold at all times.
