    In a large pot, heat the olive oil and sauté finely chopped or crushed garlic over medium heat for 2 minutes until the characteristic garlic aroma develops.

    Add tomato puree (you can buy ready-made or grate tomatoes yourself) and tomato paste to the pot, as well as sugar, salt, and desired spices.

    When the sauce comes to a boil, reduce the heat to the lowest setting and simmer the sauce for another 10 minutes, covered.
