Mussel sauce
Description
Perfectly complements meat, poultry, and side dishes. If you've never cooked mussels before, don't worry—it's not difficult at all. The most important thing is to rinse the mussels thoroughly; otherwise, you might end up with grains of sand between your teeth. You can use either fresh or frozen mussels—this won't significantly affect the taste. This dish can serve as either a main course or an appetizer. Mussels are typically served with a neutral side dish, such as rice. The combination of creamy flavor with mussels is a classic preparation method. The sauce is ready. Store it in the refrigerator and serve with dishes.

Step 1

1. First, I thaw the mussels, thoroughly rinse them, and dry with a paper towel. I peel the onion and sauté it in a pan with olive oil, then add the mussels, season with salt and pepper, cook for 5 minutes, then transfer to a baking dish.

2. Peel the garlic and mince it using a grater or press. Wash and finely chop the basil. Grate the hard cheese on a fine grater. Pour the cream into the skillet where the mussels were cooked, then add the garlic, basil, and cheese. Once it comes to a boil, simmer over low heat for 2–3 minutes.
