Sausages in Puff Pastry
Description
A delicious appetizer for any gathering. This dish is extremely easy to make! Wrap the sausages in dough, brush with egg yolk, make cuts along the sides — and bake in the oven.

Step 1

Roll out the puff pastry. Cut it into squares (approximately 12×12 cm). Each side of the square should be slightly larger than the sausage so you can eventually wrap the sausage in the pastry like a candy wrapper. You can use plain puff pastry, but for this dish I prefer yeast puff pastry because it rises well during baking in the oven and becomes crispy. If you have frozen pastry dough, be sure to thaw it first.

Step 2

Cut the peeled sausages into two equal parts (lengthwise). Place each half on a square of dough.
- 3
Step 3

Wrap the sausages in dough.
- 4
Step 4

Pinch the edges of the dough so that you end up with a little "candy" shape.
- 5
Step 5

Carefully make shallow cuts along the sides (diagonally).
- 6
Step 6

Place the resulting "candies" on a baking sheet greased with sunflower oil.
- 7
Step 7

Brush each one with beaten egg yolk. This will give our sausages in dough a glossy finish.
- 8
Step 8

Sprinkle with sesame seeds on top and bake in an oven preheated to 220°C.
- 9
Step 9

Remove our sausages when a pleasant golden crust has formed on the dough. This will take approximately 15–20 minutes.
