Salted donuts
Description
The recipe does not take much time. Salty doughnuts are a simple, affordable recipe. You can make them during Lent. For doughnuts of roughly even size, level the dough on the spoon by scraping it against the side of the bowl with the spoon’s edge. Very large doughnuts are not recommended—they may stay raw in the middle. Serve cooled or slightly warm.
Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the necessary ingredients.

Step 2

In a bowl, mix flour, warm water, salt, sugar, and yeast.
- 3

While stirring, add the vodka.

Step 4

The finished dough should be sticky and tacky. Cover it with a towel and leave it in a warm place for 40 minutes.

Step 5

Toward the end of dough proofing, heat vegetable oil in a roasting pan or a tall saucepan. The proofed dough will not gain much volume, since there is more salt than sugar, but it will become smoother. Dip a tablespoon into the hot vegetable oil. Scoop the dough—about half a spoonful—and lower it into the hot oil. Fry over moderate heat until golden brown. Allow about 5–7 minutes.

Step 6

Place the cooked doughnuts on a dish lined with napkins. Sprinkle with salt right away.

Step 7

Cool the doughnuts and serve them with honey.
