Pickled cucumbers with honey
Description
Perfect with a meal and drinks. It’s not easy to describe the taste of salted cucumbers with honey. Maybe Bunin or another Russian classic could have pulled it off, but that’s beyond me :) I first tried this appetizer in Minsk. Everyone was surprised that I had never had salted cucumbers with honey before—they eat them all the time, he said. I don’t know whether all Belarusians do the same, but from now on I consider it a Belarusian snack :) Especially since the internet says that salted cucumbers with honey is a traditional appetizer in Belarus, as well as in some regions of Lithuania and Poland. Rather than reading about how delicious these cucumbers are, it’s better to just make them: 1. Take a plate and slice the cucumbers nicely. 2. Pour honey into a small bowl. 3. If the honey is thick, be sure to melt it. 4. Serve at the table! I first tasted this unusual dish in Belarus when I attended a wedding. Salted cucumbers with honey were served on the second day. They said the honeymoon had begun :) Though you could only taste salted cucumbers with honey after sipping a shot of moonshine. The combination is unforgettable! Give it a try—it’s great fun :) We have plenty of holidays! Good luck
