Description

The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Kutia is served for dinner on Christmas Eve. It can be prepared in various ways, and to speed up the process, you can use a multicooker. Try making it according to this recipe. The grain should be soaked in advance so that it cooks faster and remains fluffy. The ready dessert can be served at the table.

    1. Orthodox people have always served kutya at the table on Christmas Eve. This tradition has been preserved to this day. You can quickly prepare sochivo in a multicooker using the traditional recipe.

    2. Thoroughly rinse the pearl barley and place it into the multicooker container. Cook until fully done.

    3. The grain can be soaked in water for a couple of hours beforehand—this will make it cook faster. While the barley is cooking, chop the dried apricots and crush the walnuts. In my family, we don't grind the walnuts in a blender, but instead split them into halves and add them to the kutia almost whole.

    4. Pour boiling water over the poppy seeds. Do this several times for 5-7 minutes each. After that, drain the water and let the poppy seeds sit.

    5. Put the nuts in a frying pan and lightly toast them. This will make them tastier in the kutya. You can use walnuts, hazelnuts, or any other nuts according to your preference.

    6. When the multicooker signals that the porridge is ready, add the remaining ingredients (poppy seeds, dried apricots, nuts). At the very end, add honey and mix everything thoroughly. Then close the lid and select the "Keep Warm" mode. After 5-7 minutes, your homemade porridge in the multicooker is ready!
