Description

The recipe won't take much time. Kutia is an essential dish on the festive Christmas table. On this joyful and pure holiday, every Orthodox family primarily serves kutia. You can prepare it using different grains. This time I decided to use buckwheat. Serve it chilled.

Instructions

    Step 1

    1. No Orthodox family sits down to the table without having wheat-based kutya prepared at home for the Christmas holiday. This festive dish is simple and easy to make. This time, I decided to prepare it using buckwheat groats.

    2. Place the pot with buckwheat and water over heat. I always use the same proportions: 1:3. Before adding the buckwheat to the pot, rinse it thoroughly. When the water comes to a boil, reduce the heat and add salt to the grain.

    3. After boiling, buckwheat should cook for no more than 20 minutes over medium heat. During this time, you need to soak the poppy seeds in boiling water and the raisins in cold water. If you'd like to use prunes and dried apricots, feel free!

    4. I decided to experiment this time—I took almonds and prunes, and of course, poppy seeds. With this combination, the filling will be no less delicious.

    5. Mix all the ingredients, then drizzle honey over the top at the very end. Melted honey will perfectly complement the Christmas dessert and make it unforgettable!
