Description

A simple way to stock up ahead of time. If you want to make homemade berry preserves, be sure to make blackcurrant jam using the classic recipe. For gelling, you can use gelatin or Gelfix. The berries need to be boiled and rubbed through a sieve, and only after that should you bring the mixture to a boil, then seal in jars. The preserve is ready for winter storage.

    1. In summer we start making homemade preserves for winter. Blackcurrant jam made at home is a wonderful treat and an amazing filling for all kinds of sweet baked goods. Even served simply with tea to distinguished guests, blackcurrant jam will be an excellent choice. So, rinse the berries thoroughly and put them in a saucepan. Ideally, the pot should have a non-stick bottom. Add sugar to the blackcurrants and simmer over low heat, stirring constantly until the berries begin to burst. Place the cooked jam in a sieve.

    3. Add gelfix or gelatin to the strained berry syrup (gelatin should be dissolved in advance so it can bloom). Now put the syrup with sugar and gelfix on the stove, bring to a boil, and simmer over very low heat (you can use a water bath).
