Creamy Hearts
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Lightly grease a square pan. Pour milk into a saucepan. Add sugar and butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves and the butter melts. Increase the heat, bring to a boil, and cover with a lid. Boil for 2 minutes, then remove the lid. Simmer over low heat for 15 to 25 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare a bowl with ice water. Remove the saucepan from heat and place it into the bowl of ice water for 5 seconds. Let it stand at room temperature without stirring for about 40 minutes. If using food coloring, add 1 drop. Stir with a wooden spoon for 2 to 5 minutes. Quickly pour the mixture into the prepared pan. Smooth the surface. Allow to cool completely for 2 to 3 hours, then cut out hearts using a cookie cutter. Lightly grease the edges with butter before serving. Store candies in an airtight container for up to 1 week. Serve the finished dessert.
