Butter cookies with pepper
Description
The pastry is simple and quick to prepare. This delicious and easy-to-make buttery cookie bakes very fast and can be prepared right before breakfast. Serve cooled or slightly warm.

1. Preheat the oven to 230 degrees. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt using a dough blender until all ingredients are evenly mixed.

2. Add the chilled, cubed butter to the flour mixture and continue mixing. The mixture should resemble wet sand. Add the cold buttermilk and mix by hand until a uniform consistency is achieved.

3. Place the dough onto a lightly floured work surface. Roll the dough into a 25x30 cm rectangle about 2 cm thick. Using a round cookie cutter or mold, cut out cookies. Gather the dough scraps, press them together, and repeat the process.

4. Place the sliced cookies on a large baking sheet. Brush the cookies with cream or milk and sprinkle with black pepper. Bake for 12–15 minutes until lightly golden. Remove the cookies from the oven, brush with melted butter, and serve.
