Sweet buns
Description
Delicious baked treats for the whole family. To prepare buns using this recipe, we need to make a rich yeast dough using milk or kefir. If you're confident in your yeast, you can skip making a starter. The buns are shaped quite simply (I explain the details in the recipe), then left to proof for another 10–15 minutes before baking at 180°C (356°F) for about 30 minutes. After baking, they are brushed with honey once more, allowed to cool, and then served. Serve them cooled or slightly warm.

Step 1

1. First, we need to prepare the starter. I really liked the dough for buns made with kefir (even better — with soured milk). Dissolve the yeast in warm milk or kefir, add a spoon of sugar and a couple of spoons of flour. Mix well and leave in a warm place until the starter becomes bubbly. Then add the remaining dough ingredients.

Step 2

2. Add a little melted butter, then add the remaining flour. The dough should not stick to your hands, but should remain soft (classic yeast dough). Let it rise in a warm place, then punch it down twice.

Step 3

3. Divide the dough into 12 equal balls, then roll each one out, add sugar and cinnamon in the center, drizzle with honey and melted butter, roll up first into a log, then fold in half.

Step 4

4. Make a small vertical cut halfway through.

Step 5

5. Now, with the cut side facing up, unfold the cut parts. We'll get a heart shape.

Step 6

6. Brush with butter again and sprinkle with sugar. Let them sit for about 10 minutes, then place in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Step 7

7. I also brush the buns with honey after baking, while they're still hot. The honey not only adds a special flavor, but also gives the buns a "shiny" appearance.
