Mom’s Sweet Rusks
Description
Homemade baked goods for tea. You can make these rusks for breakfast with a cup of fragrant coffee or for a family tea party. If you like, add a little vanilla or cinnamon to the sugar for extra flavor and aroma. The baking is done. Serve at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

To make rusks you will need stale white bread, sugar and milk. The bread can be any kind you like.
- 2
Step 2

If you use small bread rolls, cut them slightly on the diagonal.
- 3
Step 3

Lightly dip each slice of bread on one side in milk.
- 4
Step 4

Immediately dip the slice of bread in sugar. If too much sugar sticks, it’s best to shake off the excess.
- 5
Step 5

Arrange the rusks sugar-side up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Put the baking sheet in an oven preheated to 170 degrees for about 15 minutes on convection. Watch your technique and cooking time.

Step 6

Serve the finished rusks with tea or coffee.
