We thoroughly clean the mackerel, remove the gills, and wash them. Rub with a mixture of salt and pepper.

Peel the onion, slice into half-rings or rings, and sprinkle with cumin.

Cut the baking sleeve to the desired length. Seal one end of the sleeve with a special clip or simply tie it with a string, then place the mackerel and prepared onion into the sleeve. Evenly distribute the onion among the fish.

Make 5-6 punctures in the oven bag to allow steam to escape. Place the fish in the bag into a preheated oven at 180-200°C (356-392°F) for about 25-35 minutes. Cooking time depends on the size of the mackerel. If the fish is large, feel free to leave it in the oven for 35 minutes. If you'd like a golden crust on the fish, cut open the bag and expose the fish about 10 minutes before the end of cooking.
