Mackerel in onion skins and tea leaves
Description
The recipe won't take much time. It's very easy to prepare a fish dish in just 20 minutes using ingredients you already have on hand. You can serve it with any side dish of grains, pasta, or vegetables for lunch or dinner. It's best to cut mackerel when slightly frozen—it will be easier to clean. Fresh dill, parsley, or celery can be added to the broth if desired. Serve hot.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Soak the onion skins in cold water for 10 minutes, then rinse until the water runs clear.
- 3
Step 3

Rinse the mackerel in water, cut off the head and tail, gut it, and thoroughly rinse the inside, removing the black membrane from the sides. Place onion skins at the bottom of a cauldron or pot, then put the rinsed fish on top. There's no need to cut the fish into pieces—the dish will look unappealing after cooking. Add tea leaves—preferably using a tea bag. Add salt, ground black pepper, and bay leaves.
