Mackerel in Hot Marinade
Description
Perfect with meals and drinks. This mackerel is ready to eat in just 4–5 hours after preparation. But for it to soak through properly, leave it in the marinade overnight. If you prefer lightly salted fish, reduce the salt slightly and add sugar to the marinade.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients. Wash the fish, clean it, and pat dry with a paper towel.
- 2
Step 2

Peel the onion, slice it into half-rings, and place it on the bottom of the container where you will marinate the fish.
- 3
Step 3

Cut the mackerel into serving-sized pieces, removing the head and tail.
- 4
Step 4

To prepare the marinade, add salt, pepper, oil, and a bay leaf to the water. Bring to a boil.
- 5
Step 5

Pour in the vinegar and remove from the heat after one minute.
- 6
Step 6

Pour the hot marinade over the mackerel. After it has cooled, cover with a lid and refrigerate.
- 7
Step 7

I recommend removing the finished fish from the marinade so it does not become oversalted.
- 8
Step 8

Serve immediately or slightly chilled.
