Mackerel grilled over charcoal
Description
It's best to use fresh mackerel, although frozen is also acceptable, provided it was frozen only once. Of course, you can add spices to your taste, but this marinade is considered classic. Serve the baked mackerel with fresh vegetables on salad leaves.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1
Rinse the fish, cleaned of entrails, thoroughly under running water. Remove the fins. Pat dry with paper towels inside and out.
- 2
Step 2
Make diagonal cuts on the sides of the mackerel. Rub it inside and out with salt and black pepper. Generously pour lemon juice over it.
- 3
Step 3
Mix a little vegetable oil, pressed garlic, grated ginger, and Italian herbs in a bowl.
- 4
Step 4
Rub each fish with the prepared marinade on all sides. Wrap the fish in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour, or preferably overnight.
- 5
Step 5
When the coals in the barbecue are ready, grease the grill with vegetable oil to prevent the fish from sticking. Place the mackerel on the grill and cook for about 7 minutes on each side.

Step 6
The finished fish should be golden in color. At the end of cooking, brush it with the remaining marinade.
