Scones with whipped cream

Description

The recipe won't take much time. English treats—scones with cream—are a perfect choice for any tea time. These treats are moderately sweet and yet quite filling. I'd like to add that banana, cream, and cocoa are delicious ingredients, without which this dish wouldn't be complete. Without them, the scones wouldn't be nearly as tasty! Scones with cream are easy and quick to prepare; the most important thing is to knead the dough properly. Good luck! Serve chilled.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

First, prepare all the necessary ingredients. The butter should be at room temperature, and the cream should have 33% fat content. Also, prepare flour, eggs, milk, powdered sugar, vanilla flavoring, baking powder, cocoa powder for coating, and a banana for decoration.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Sift flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt into a deep bowl. Add butter and mix everything well.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Chop the mixture with a knife until it resembles crumbs.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Add the powdered sugar and mix everything well.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

In a separate bowl, whisk 2 eggs and 2 tablespoons of milk with a mixer.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Then comes the tricky part! Make a well in the flour mixture, pour in the beaten eggs with milk, and start kneading the dough.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

The dough should be tender and soft, yet not sticky.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Roll out the dough into flatbreads about 2.5–3 cm thick. Using a glass, cut out scones with a diameter of 6–7 cm.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

Place the scones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. The scones should not touch each other, so it's important to maintain proper spacing. Before baking, brush the scones with milk and sprinkle with flour. Bake for about 20 minutes at 220 degrees Celsius, until the scones are puffy and have developed a light golden crust.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

While the scones are baking, prepare the cream in a separate bowl. Whip the cream with a mixer (about 15–20 minutes total) until thick. Gradually add vanilla and powdered sugar to the bowl and continue beating thoroughly.

  11. 11

    Step 11

    Step 11

We cut the ready scones in half, spread them with cream, dust with cocoa, put the halves back together, and add a couple of banana slices. The English treat for tea is ready!
