Description

Perfect for tea and coffee. Scones are traditional English tea buns, usually made with raisins, but cooking is a field for imagination and experiments! Today I suggest baking scones with plums — delicious and easy! Feel free to follow along, you'll do great! For scones, I recommend using a cookie cutter with a diameter of at least 6-7 cm, so you can fully enjoy the charm of this pastry! Good luck! The baking is ready. Serve at the table.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Prepare the ingredients. Take the butter out of the refrigerator in advance and let it sit for a while until soft — do not melt it! Take 5-6-7 plums, depending on their size. Let's get started!

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Combine the flour (250 g) with a pinch of salt, baking powder, and butter. Knead the dough with hooks (mixer attachment) for 4-5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Combine milk (150 g) with powdered sugar, mix well, and pour into the flour mixture with vanilla extract. Blend all ingredients together using a mixer.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Remove the pits from the plums and cut them into small pieces. For scones, it's best to use firm and dense fruits so they don't turn into a puree when mixing the dough.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Add the plum pieces to the dough. Mix with hooks at the lowest speed.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Use the remaining 50 g of flour for rolling out the dough. Roll it to a thickness of about 1-1.5 cm. Cut out the buns using a cookie cutter or a pastry ring. My large ring broke, so I made small mini-scones instead.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the buns on it. Mix the egg yolk with 10 ml of milk, brush the buns with this mixture, then generously sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or brown sugar on top.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Bake the scones in a preheated oven at 210 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool and serve with tea.
