Gooseberry syrup

Description

The recipe won't take much time. This recipe yields a small jar of gooseberry syrup. I recommend using a bottle with a narrow neck instead of a jar, so it's convenient for drizzling over ice cream or pancakes. You can use regular sugar, but the syrup tastes much better with cane sugar! Making gooseberry syrup is very easy! Store it in the refrigerator. By the way, if needed, you can slightly warm the ready syrup in the microwave or in a saucepan on the stove. 1. Take a saucepan, pour in water and add sugar. Over medium heat, stir until the sugar dissolves. Let it simmer for a short while. 2. Meanwhile, rinse the gooseberries, trim the ends with scissors, and cut them in half. 3. Add the gooseberry halves to the syrup. Simmer over low heat for 1–1.5 hours, stirring occasionally. Let the finished syrup cool down, then strain it. Pour into a suitable container and seal tightly. Gooseberry syrup is ready! Enjoy sweet moments—serve chilled.
