Pear syrup

Description

The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. 1. First, place the sugar into a small saucepan and pour in water. Set it on the stove and bring to a boil. 2. Meanwhile, prepare the pears. Wash them thoroughly, dry slightly, and cut each into 4-6 pieces, removing the cores and stems. These pears can later be used in pies, for example, so they can be cut differently depending on your needs. 3. Add the pears to the boiling water and reduce the heat to the minimum. Pour a little lemon juice into the pear syrup at home if the pears are very sweet and you'd like to add a bit of tartness. 4. Simmer the syrup for about 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally. The syrup's consistency can vary—from rather thin, suitable for liqueurs, to well-reduced. This is a simple and fairly quick way to make pear syrup. If desired, you can also add a cinnamon stick or other spices during cooking for extra aroma. 5. Let the finished syrup cool slightly, then carefully remove the pears. They can be used in baking or as a filling for pancakes, for instance. Strain the syrup and let it cool completely. Store it in the refrigerator under a tightly closed lid for up to 4 days. The ready dessert can now be served.
