A delicious addition to everyday and festive dishes. If you love basil, this recipe is for you! This basil syrup pairs perfectly with sour dishes and can even be used in hot beverages like tea. It's quick to prepare and can be stored for a long time (in a dark, cool place).

1. Basil is used not only as a spice but also as a base for a wonderful sauce that pairs well with many dishes.

2. We'll need a lot of sugar—1 kilogram, and you'll end up with a large amount of syrup. Prepare several sterilized jars in advance (I ended up with two 0.5-liter jars).

3. Bring water to a boil, add sugar. Pour in lemon juice and boil for about five minutes. Then add green basil leaves and cook for another 15 minutes. Next, strain the syrup and boil for about 10 minutes more.

4. If you want to preserve this syrup for a long time, pour it into jars and seal them. Store the basil syrup in a cool, dark place.
