Swiss gingerbread
Description
The pastry is made simply and quickly. These gingerbreads will be liked by both adults and children. I recommend baking them ahead of time so the layers have time to soak properly. You can also decorate them with icing or powdered sugar.
Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the necessary ingredients.

Step 2

To make the dough, place sugar, honey, and butter in a saucepan.

Step 3

Add the milk and place it over the heat. The mixture should not be brought to a boil! Just heat it slightly so that the sugar melts.

Step 4

In the meantime, let's take care of the dry ingredients. Add the flour, salt, baking soda, cocoa, cinnamon, and nuts to a deep bowl. Mix thoroughly.

Add lemon zest.
- 6
Step 6

Pour the liquid ingredients and knead a uniform dough.
- 7
Step 7

Divide the dough into 2 parts, wrap each in plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes. It's best to put it in the refrigerator.
- 8
Step 8

Place the dough on parchment and roll it out. Prick it with a fork and send it to the oven.
- 9
Step 9

Bake each layer at 200 degrees for about 6-8 minutes.

Step 10

Afterwards, let the layers cool and carefully cut them in half.

The third layer again with butter and the fourth with jam.
