Swedish meatballs

Description

In any Swedish home or restaurant, you can always enjoy delicious meatballs. The sauce served with them varies: lingonberry, creamy, cheesy, creamy-cheesy, tomato-based, and so on. They pair wonderfully with any sauce and always turn out juicy and flavorful. This recipe uses lamb mince (though you can use any meat of your choice) with a tomato sauce, served with rice on the side. These Swedish meatballs can be prepared in just one hour, even by beginner cooks.

Instructions

    Step 1

    Step 1

    1. There are several variations for preparing Swedish meatballs. Their main characteristic is their small size and the obligatory sauce (either made with lingonberry jam or a creamy cheese-based sauce). I'm somewhat familiar with Swedish cuisine and decided to try one of the recipes for Swedish meatballs. You can use a mixture of pork and beef for the meat, or you can use lamb (meatballs made with lamb turn out excellent in tomato sauce).

    2. Slice the onion and carrot, sauté in vegetable oil until golden brown. Meanwhile, prepare the ground meat (use store-bought or grind the meat yourself). Add salt and spices to taste. Be sure to include cumin and ground paprika—Swedish meatballs cannot be made without these spices.

    3. Add the sautéed vegetables to the minced meat, mix well. Add the egg and season with salt to taste.

    4. Shape the meatballs and place them in the refrigerator while you prepare the sauce. You can simmer the meatballs directly in the sauce, or first sear them or bake in the oven. I decided to simply simmer them in the sauce.

    5. Fry the flour in vegetable oil until golden brown. You can use ready-made tomato sauce, homemade morse, or fresh tomatoes. I used tomato paste.

    6. Immediately add a little cream to the flour, simmer for a minute, stirring constantly, then add tomato paste. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.

    7. Now take a pot in which you will braise the meatballs, place the meatballs inside, and pour the sauce over them. Place on the stove and bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat and simmer for about half an hour over low heat.

    8. Meatballs always go perfectly with rice, so I decided to prepare it as a side dish.
